PM Abbasi would definitely present himself before the court, if summoned

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi had not yet received any notice from the Supreme Court (SC) to summon him, Spokesperson for Prime Minister House said on Friday.

In a statement issued on Friday, the spokesman while responding to media reports said that the prime minister fully believed in the supremacy of law and had full respect for the supreme judiciary.

“PM Abbasi would definitely present himself before the court on any issue, if summoned,” the spokesman said.

The premier had often repeated that all institutions should exercise their powers, while remaining within their constitutional limits, he added.

Earlier on Thursday, the Supreme Court had summoned Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Air Blue in a case pertaining to alleged fake degree of pilots on May 12.

During the hearing, Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Mian Saqib Nisar has said that clashes in interests are apart but the premier has been called as a CEO of the airlines to explain his stance.

He had further asked why no relevant data had been submitted in the court and that how many airlines are functional in Pakistan over which Deputy Attorney General responded that Shaheen, Air Blue and SereneAir are being working in Pakistan.

However, data of 108 employees of PIA had been verified so far, he added.

Responding to a question of CJP, the deputy attorney general said that degrees of 1979 people are yet to be verified.
